Kia Forte: Rear Torsion Beam Axle Replacement

1.	Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from front hub.

Tightening torque :

88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)

â€¢	Be careful not to damage to the hub bolts when removing the rear wheel and tire (A).

3.	Remove the rear brake caliper. (Refer to Brake System - "Rear Disc Brake")

Loosen the bolt and then remove the wheel speed sensor cable (A).

Tightening torque :

8.8 ~ 13.7N.m(0.9 ~ 1.4kgf.m, 6.5 ~ 10.1lb-ft)

Loosen the bolt and then remove the rear shock absorber (A) from the frame.

Tightening torque :

98.1 ~ 117.7N.m (10.0 ~ 12.0kgf.m, 72.3 ~ 86.8lb-ft)

Loosen the bolt & nut and then remove the rear shock absorber (A) from the torsion beam axle.

Tightening torque :

98.1 ~ 117.7N.m (10.0 ~ 12.0kgf.m, 72.3 ~ 86.8lb-ft)

7.	Remove the rear wheel housing (A).

Loosen the mounting bolts and then remove the torsion beam axle (A) from the frame.

Tightening torque :

156.9 ~ 176.5N.m(16.0 ~ 18.0kgf.m, 115.7 ~ 130.2lb-ft)

9.	Remove the rear hub assembly. (Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "Rear Hub - Carrier")

10.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

â€¢	Use a SST(09581-11000) when installing the brake caliper assembly.

11.	Check the rear alignment. (Refer to Rear Suspension System - "Rear Alignment")
